Event details:

Container solutions in Azure: You’ve probably heard of containers by now, and I’m pretty sure that you’ve already used one or two in some development scenarios or even production.
As to why use containers it is pretty simple to answer. Instead of virtualizing the whole hardware stack as in the case of a virtual machine, you just virtualize the operating system which will run atop of the OS kernel. Translation: They are smaller and faster! That being said, containers need to run somewhere, and in this session, we will be talking about what container solutions are in the Azure Cloud and how we can use them.
Florin Loghiade (Azure MVP | AVAELGO): Florin works as an IT consultant focused on Microsoft solutions based on Windows Server, System Center, Hyper-V, Azure, and Automation. Florin’s current primary focus is implementing and managing on-premise and cloud solutions based on Microsoft Windows Server, System Center and Azure, eliminating all the tedious management tasks using PowerShell and PowerShell DSC.

• SOLID for Everyone: Presentation will show what are and how you can use these principles in a practical way, using C# language, following a series of refactoring steps on an unoptimized sample of code.
Daniel Costea (The Informal School of IT): Daniel is enthusiastic about technology and knowledge sharing, therefore is not surprising he is a trainer. With C# it was love at first sight but he works with a series of other technologies like: ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI, HTML, CSS, Javascript, AngularJS, ReactJS, SQL.

• Azure Blockchain Service – myth or reality: This is a session dedicated to blockchain. We will talk about mining inside a cloud provider and why blockchain is so attractive to any company nowadays. In the second part of the session we will talk about a new service from Azure that is allowing us to use blockchain as a service (SaaS)
Radu Vunvulea (Azure MVP | Endava): Radu Vunvulea is a technology enthusiast involved in all kind of projects. He has a vast experience on different technologies and industries and has a blog where he writes about IT trends. In his spare time he drives IT communities and speaks at different conferences around the world. In his day to day life Radu is Senior Architect at Endava and Microsoft Azure MVP. Most of his time is spent working with the Cloud, helping big enterprises innovate and finding solutions to their business problems.

Systems Development in a Changing World (Eoin Woods)
The way we build systems is changing. From our history of monolithic systems, then distributed systems, to Internet connected systems, we are now entering the era of cloud-hosted, microservice based, pay-for-usage system development. What does the history of software development tell us about the challenges of this new environment? And how does our approach to building systems need to evolve in order to meet them?
Empower your Raspberry PI using Azure IoT Suite (Radu Vunvulea)
What can you do with smart devices nowadays? In the next 45 minutes we will take a look on what we can do With Raspberry PI and how this device can become the brain of an intelligent house or office. The session will contain a lot of demos explaining what we can do to empower this smart device with the IoT Intelligence on top of Azure. We will also use NodeJs and C++ beside C# code.

Augmented Reality in Industrial Predictive Maintenance, including HoloLens (Tibor Molnar)
Industry 4.0 comes with interconnected machines using IoT, cloud computing and machine learning (beside many other things). We at iQuest are working on an end to end IoT solution architecture which includes gateways for devices, IoT hubs, maintenance case predictions, real time business intelligence and augmented reality support for devices maintenance and predictive maintenance. Additionally, we are testing Augmented Reality to provide a better experience and support for field engineers doing devices maintenance work. This session will present high level an example IoT architecture, then will focus on details regarding how to implement holographic and object augmentation experiences in devices maintenance using Microsoft Hololens, Unity, Visual Studio and the PTC Vuforia platform.

In this session we will take a look on some security problems that .NET framework has and what can happen if we don’t take security into account. We will take a look on different versions of .NET (including .NET Core). Best practives related to this topic will be covered and debated.

Because of increased demand for interconnected systems(IOT, SAAS) we need new improved ways of handling reliable (soft)real-time systems. One battle-tested approach is based on the Actor Model pioneered by Erlang and brought to the masses by Elixir.
Topics that will be covered:
– short introduction to functional programming principles with examples in Elixir
– actor model concurrency: why is it needed, advantages & disadvantages
– OTP patterns for handling agents: GenServer & Supervisor
